Call for Applications: Internship Scholarship as International Business Trainee 2026 
International Trade Scholarship 2026 – 2027 

The Scholarship Fund for Swedish Youth Abroad (Stipendiefonden för Svensk Utlandsungdom) 
announces a scholarship for a young Swedish graduate to carry out a twelve-month internship at 
the Spanish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Madrid.

About the Spanish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce                                                                             

The Spanish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce was founded 1949, promotes Swedish-Spanish 
business relations and has more than 250 member companies. The Chamber provides a strong 
networking platform, organizes business events, carries out advocacy, and supports Swedish and 
Spanish companies in their international expansion.

About the role 

As a scholarship holder, you will spend one year as an International Business Trainee. The 
position offers you the opportunity to develop an international career, gain hands-on experience in 
business and market analysis, and build valuable contacts within the Spanish-Swedish business 
community.

 Main responsibilities include: 

• Market and industry research
• Project management of business and networking events
• Establishing and developing business contacts with Swedish and Spanish companies
• Communication and reporting
• Administrative tasks related to Chamber operations
• Participating in and supporting Chamber events, including occasional evening activities

 The program includes 
• A scholarship of SEK 180,000 for the entire period from The Scholarship Fund for Swedish 
Youth Abroad.
• Private healthcare insurance from the Chamber (value aprox. 600€)
• Private insurance covering accidents and travel protection throughout the internship period from 
the Chamber (value aprox. 700€)
• Membership in the Chambers Young Professionals (<35 years) for 12 months
• A seat in the Young Professionals Network (YPN) committee

 Selection process 
• Applications are submitted to the Spanish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce. Once a candidate 
is selected, their CV and cover letter will be forwarded to the Scholarship Fund for approval.
 • The candidate will then meet the Scholarship Fund in person at their office in Näringslivets Hus, 
Stockholm.
• The scholar will sign an agreement with the Scholarship Fund.             
• The scholarship will only be paid out once the scholar has provided proof of valid insurance  (health, travel, and accident insurance).

 Qualifications and requirements:
• Swedish citizenship
• Completed bachelor’s or master’s degree by the start of the internship, preferably in economics 
or international studies
• Must not have turned 31 by the start of the internship
• Limited previous work experience abroad
• Must not have previously received a scholarship from the Scholarship Fund
• Strong written and spoken skills in Swedish and English
• Very good knowledge of Spanish is a strong merit
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and interest in international business
• Availability to work in a hybrid format (both on-site and online)
• Flexibility to attend events occasionally held in the evenings and/or at night
